[edit]I've just come across a quote from Orderic Vitalis who says that in 1106 Henry I destroyed the adulterina castella of his enemies. Not much more detail on the events, but it is mentioned in Contamine, Philippe (2007). "Les temps médiévaux (jusqu'au milieu du XVIe sicle)".
